We decrease the freshwater withdrawal

Water is a crucial resource for our business: At Fedrigoni we manage its use according to an approach based on circularity, innovation and efficiency. More than 90% of the water we use is returned clean to the environment after being recycled in the production process and purified of organic and inorganic substances. Moreover, in 2022 we set a new 2030 ESG target: -10% of freshwater withdrawal.

We consider it a priority to preserve the quality and availability of water and to implement specific actions in this respect, in addition to combating climate change.

Much has been done so far, and we will continue to do more. This is our solid commitment to respecting and appreciating one of the most essential elements for everyone survival.

A percentage that can make a difference

To return 95% of the production water in the system, we reduce waste, minimise fresh water being used in the production cycles and apply state-of-the-art water treatment techniques before returning the water to the natural environment.

As transparent as water

Correct water management is ensured by means of full transparency in reporting and well-defined standards in our production processes. 100% of our paper mills apply chemical and physical water treatment and 70% also apply biological treatment. We strictly comply with the water management regulations, with a positive track record of ‘zero non-compliance’ regarding the use of water, and we intend to keep it that way.

Circularity of the processes

The water used is returned to the environment after being recycled several times in the production process and purified of the organic and inorganic substances it contains by applying state-of-the-art techniques. We use techniques such as filtration, sedimentation, flotation, etc. to treat the water.
