Fedrigoni sustainability path has a rigorous approach, relying on internal and external tools that measure and verify our actions and progress.
Certifications
We obtained our first certification in 1993 and since then we have operated in accordance with existing standards at an international level, several of which are voluntary. Here below the most relevant.
FSC
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an internationally recognised forest certification system, focused on correct forest management and traceability of derived products. 100% of our paper mills are managed under FSC CoC certification and in 2023 96% of the pulp purchased was FSC certified and 4% FSC Controlled Wood. Fabriano has been a supporter of FSC Italy since 2021: A sign of the ever-increasing collaboration between them.
ISO 9001
This is the most widely used international benchmark standard for the Quality Management of any organisation. 100% of our Italian Special Papers sites and 100% of our self-adhesive sites have obtained this certification (with quality management procedures aligned with the principles of ISO 9001, without external certification).
ISO 14001
This is an international and entirely voluntary standard that specifies the requirements for an environmental management system. Based on an analysis, it is used to identify company environmental risks and reduce them. 67% of our Italian Special Papers sites and 77% of our self-adhesive production sites are ISO 140001 certified.
ISO 45001
This is the certification that specifies the requirements for an occupational health and safety (OSH) management system and provides guidance for its use. 100% of our Italian Special Papers sites and 62% of our self-adhesive production sites are ISO 45001 certified.
ISO 50001
Energy Management Systems.
20% of the Italian Special Papers sites are ISO 50001 certified. 100% of the Self-Adhesives sites have energy management procedures that are aligned with ISO 50001 principles, without external certification.

Membership
Sustainability is a collective, synergistic path consisting of common goals. This is why we work together with the most authoritative international organisations that promote unambiguous standards and criteria for sustainable development.
We have officially joined the United Nations Global Compact, an initiative created to support companies worldwide to adopt sustainable policies and to make public the results of the actions taken.
CELAB-Europe is an international NGO composed of representatives from the self-adhesive industry that promotes circular economy in the sector. The Fedrigoni Group is actively involved in this working group to promote the innovation of its products in the Self-Adhesives division.
The partnership with the NGO Inspiring Girls International was born in 2021 to help raise awareness of their talent in adolescents, freeing them from gender stereotypes. Through workshop that we organize in schools or for special events in many country where the company is present, we get young students to dialogue with Fedrigoni female role models.
We are a Member of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Network, whose mission is accelerating the global transition to a circular economy, driving change through design. The Network is made up of influential changemakers, which includes businesses, governments, and academic institutions. Through learning from their wealth of knowledge and expertise, as a Member, we can help make a regenerative circular economy that is good for business, people, and the environment.
Rating
We have adopted a rigorous approach at Fedrigoni, measuring ourselves by means of internationally recognised ratings. This is a commitment to transparent, measurable and globally understandable communication.
The international sustainability ratings provider EcoVadis has awarded us again the Platinum Medal for our commitment shown to ESG issues. This result places us among the top 1% of companies worldwide in our industry. In 2024 our score rises to 90/100 and we confirm ourselves as Leader in the Carbon category, awarded as a company with the best in class GHG management system and strong decarbonization ambition with approved science-based targets.
Among over 9,400 companies assessed in the 2023 S&P Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), only the 8% is included in the 2024 Sustainability Yearbook. For the first time, Fedrigoni is part of it with a score of 61/100. The main improvements recognized are in risk management, emissions reduction targets, product design and innovation, human rights, and inclusion, diversity, and equity actions.
Fedrigoni is committed to a 30% reduction in its carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 (Scope 1 and 2). The Science Based Target is an initiative that we have joined and it has endorsed our goal, confirming our alignment with the goals of the Paris Agreement: To limit global warming to well below 2°C compared to pre-industrial levels and, if possible, to limit it to 1.5°C. Moreover in early 2023, SBTi also approved our Scope 3 reduction targets:
-30% of emissions from fuel and energy related activities by 2030 from a 2019 base year;
90% of its suppliers by spend, covering purchased goods and services and capital goods, with science-based targets by 2027.
