The Gianfranco Fedrigoni Foundation, European Institute of the History of Paper and Paper
, dedicated to one of the most tenacious and enlightened entrepreneurs in
Italian and international paper production, Gianfranco Fedrigoni. was created on the 8th of March
2011 in Fabriano (Italy), ‘City of Paper’ par excellence.

The Foundation was founded by the
Fedrigoni S.p.A., a family owned business that has dedicated passion and expertise to paper for
five generations and in 2002 acquired the historic paper mill, Cartiere Miliani Fabriano and its
precious paper heritage.
The Foundation, which is a non-profit organisation, aims to support the promotion of the study of
the history of paper and related disciplines and promote the development and dissemination of
paper science; to protect and manage the Historical Archives of Miliani Fabriano Paper Mills, the
first business archives declared “historically interesting” in Italy on the 20th of July, 1964.

The size and importance of the archival heritage, library and historical paper that the Foundation
has, make it a unique institution in Italy in its genre, thanks to the founder, Fedrigoni S.p.A., which
has decided to offer an ample support to the culture, scientific and technical research, the
protection and enhancement of its heritage, source of wealth, and intellectual social and
economic development.
